Frequently Asked Questions

🏕️ General Questions

What is Ranthambore National Park?
Ranthambore National Park is one of India's largest and most famous national parks, located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. Spread over 1,334 sq. km, it is renowned for its Bengal tiger population and the historic 10th-century Ranthambore Fort. The park is home to over 80 tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and 300+ bird species.
What is the best time to visit Ranthambore?
The park is open from October to June. The best months for tiger sightings are February to May when vegetation is dry and animals frequently visit waterholes. October–January is pleasant weather-wise but sightings may be slightly lower due to dense foliage. The park closes during the monsoon season (July–September).
Is SafariRanthambore.com the official government website?
No. SafariRanthambore.com is operated by WP Frank Softwares, a registered private travel agency. We are NOT the official website of Ranthambore National Park or the Rajasthan Forest Department. We provide safari booking assistance and arrange permits on your behalf. Official permits are issued through booking.forestrajasthan.com.

📋 Booking & Permits

How do I book a safari at Ranthambore?
You can book through our Book Safari page, via WhatsApp at +91 82335 55323, or by calling us. Simply choose your preferred date, safari type (Gypsy/Canter), and number of guests. We handle the complete permit arrangement process for you.
What documents do I need for the safari?
Indian nationals: Valid government-issued ID — Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License.
Foreign nationals: Valid Passport (original required at the park gate).
Children under 5: Birth certificate or any age proof.
ID details must match the booking information exactly.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 30-60 days in advance, especially for peak season (October–March) and weekends/holidays. Last-minute availability is possible in the buffer zones (6-10) but core zones get booked quickly. The earlier you book, the better zone allocation you receive.
Can I choose my safari zone?
You can express a zone preference while booking, and we try our best to accommodate it. However, zone allocation is ultimately done by the Forest Department and is subject to availability. Zones 1-5 (core zones) have the highest tiger sighting probability.

🐅 Safari Experience

What is the difference between Gypsy and Canter safari?
Gypsy: Open-top 6-seater jeep. More private, can access all zones (1-10), better for photography, and higher tiger sighting probability. Ideal for small groups.
Canter: Open-top 20-seater bus. More affordable, only for core zones (1-5), shared with other travelers. Good for budget-conscious visitors. Both have expert naturalist guides.
What should I wear and carry on a safari?
Wear: Earthy/neutral colors (olive, brown, khaki). Avoid bright colors that may startle wildlife. Comfortable, layered clothing — mornings can be cold (especially Dec–Feb).
Carry: Camera with zoom lens, binoculars, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat/cap, water bottle, and your ID. Power banks for phones are handy.
Avoid: Perfumes, loud music, plastic bags, and flash photography.
Will I definitely see a tiger?
Tiger sightings can never be guaranteed as they are wild animals in their natural habitat. However, Ranthambore has one of the highest sighting rates in India (approximately 60-70%). Multiple safaris significantly increase your chances. Even without a tiger sighting, the park's diverse wildlife, birds, and landscapes make it a memorable experience.
Is the safari safe for children and elderly?
Yes, safaris are generally safe for all age groups. Children under 5 ride free. The vehicles stay on designated tracks, and guides ensure safety at all times. For elderly guests, we recommend the Gypsy safari for a more comfortable ride with fewer co-passengers. Canter safaris can be slightly bumpy on some trails.
