Safari Zones of Ranthambore

Ranthambore National Park is divided into 10 distinct safari zones, each offering unique landscapes and wildlife spotting opportunities. Zones 1 to 5 are the core areas, while Zones 6 to 10 are buffer zones.

Zones 6–10 (Buffer Area)

Buffer zones offer a less crowded, more off-the-beaten-path safari experience. Tiger sightings are possible but less frequent compared to core zones.

⚠️ Important: Zone Allocation Policy

Safari zones are allocated by the Forest Department and cannot be specifically chosen or guaranteed. When booking, you can express a zone preference, but the final allocation depends on availability, permit quotas, and departmental decisions. Core zones (1-5) have higher demand and may require advance booking.

💡 Expert Tip: Best Zones for Tiger Sighting

For the highest probability of tiger sightings, request Zones 1, 2, 3, or 5. Zone 3 (Padam Talao) is legendary for its photogenic tiger encounters among ancient ruins. Morning safaris generally offer better sighting chances than afternoon safaris.
